Allowances May Double
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 27. Chairmen of major counties may have their allowances doubled under legislation introduced in Parliament today. At present, county chairmen are entitled to a yearly allowance of up to £5OO. The bill retains a limit of £5OO for counties with a population of up to 10,000. For those between 10,000 and 20,000 the new maximum will be £750 and for those of more than 20,000, £lOOO.
