RUNAWAY TRUCK
Cars Badly Damaged (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 27. A runaway truck smashed into two parked cars and damaged four others after careering without a driver down Wellesley street, Auckland, at 4.35 p.m. today. The truck raced through a compulsory stop sign, narrowly missing other traffic. It ran across the road to hit the side of one car and mounted the footpath, running up the bonnet of another. The impact shoved the car back on to four other parked cars, denting bumpers and mudguards. The first car. a late model, had part of its side ripped away. The second had its engine crushed under the weight of the truck.
The only damage to the truck was a badly dented front mudguard.
