Film Stars Raided

The Indian Government l as seized more than three million rupees (about £224,000) in Indian and foreign currency, gold bars and gold sovereigns in raids on homes and bank lockers of nine top Indian film stars, Finance Ministry officials said yesterday. In the house of one actress, officials of the Finance Ministry’s enforcement directorate found a safe, concealed in the bathroom wall, which contained more than one million rupees.
