SUMMER PARADE

Best-In-Croud Outfit Worn

The swimwear, sports clothes, and light suits shown in a fashion parade for the Canterbury Travel Club at the D.LC. yesterday afternoon made summer seem very close.

Many shades of pinks, blues, and lemons were shown in the one-piece and two-piece swim suits, beach wear, skirt-and-blouse combinations and summer suits. AU the casual wear was teamed with brightly coloured sports shoes. The Australian model, Miss Maggy Wood, brought a liveliness to the show seldom seen in Christchurch. She modelled the outfit she was wearing when she was chosen from the crowd at the Melbourne Cup as winner of the “fashion on the field” prize. The outstanding item of her outfit was an 18-inch-brimmed white hat with white ostrich feathers trimming the edge of the brim. This was worn with a white and black slim-fitting dress. One of the swim suits shown in the parade would please many young girls who tire of wearing the same suit all summer. This was a reversible swim suit with a bra top and little boy shorts and could be worn in blue piped with white or, turned in the other way, red piped with white.
