IMPORTS BANNED

Singapore Reprisal (N.Z.P A -Reuter—Copyright) SINGAPORE, Aug. 26. British tyres and various textiles, foods and household wares, were declared prohibited imports into Singapore in a Government gazette published here today.

Yesterday it was announced that 46 British products would be banned if the British Board of Trade refused to

negotiate on restrictions on British imports of Singaporemanufactured cotton goods. Dr. Goh Keng Swee, Singapore’s Finance Minister, said the ban could develop into an “entire prohibition of all imports” from Britain. He also announced that British goods would be subject to specific import licensing from today.
