Y-Boys Gain First Win Over University B

A rather shaky win over . University B assured Y-Boys of fourth position when the final round of matches in the Canterbury men’s basketball A grade competition was played last evening. Y-Boys defeated University B. 29-17, but only after scores had been level on three occasions late in the second spell. , In the only other game played, Burnham gained a very comfortable win over the bottom team, Rangiora, 30-15. The match between YAi.C.A. and University A to decide the championship was d e Mrred. Competition points are: University A 31, YtM.C.A. 29. Burnham 19, Y-Boys 16. University B 12, Rex u, Rangiorg a. Y-Boys began very strongly against University B and in the first half there was only one team in the game. At the break, Y-Boys led 11-2. On the resumption at play. University B showed more fire and before many minutes had passed, the scores were level at 11-all. Y-Boys finally came to life again, matching University basket for basket, and then finally drawing away In the closing minutes. C. Harley wgs in good form for Y-Boys but suffered one or two handling lapses. His total of nine points, the highest in the match, was particularly valuable. P.
