FULBRIGHT AWARDS

More Grants Announced (N.Z. Press AssqcisHon) WELLINGTON, August 25. The United States Educational Foundation in New Zealand has announced 37 additional Fulbright awards under its 1964 programme. There are 12 awards to United States citizens and 25 to New Zealander*, making 43 awards so far this year.

Dr. E. 8. Deevey, professor of biology at Yal* University, has a travel grant to undertake research relating to the Pyramid Valley swamp, and he will be at the University of Canterbury. He will be accompanied by his wife and son, and will arrive In New Zealand on October 9.

Some United States graduate students are also coming to New Zealand. Mr M. K. Drake, of the University of Wyoming, will study animal husbandry at Lincoln College. Mr L. M. Eiselstein, of the Colorado State University, will carry out research in watershed management under the sponsorship of the University of Canterbury and the Tussock Grasslands and Mountain Lands Institute, Lincoln.

Post-graduate study in botany will be undertaken at the University of Canterbury by Mr L A. Worley, of Youngstown University, Ohio, and like Messrs Drake and Eiselstein he will arrive at Auckland on February 7 next year,

Teacher Exchanges Teacher exchanges announced Include Miss Audrey M. Schatz, of the Beacon Hill School, Seattle, Washington, who will exchange with Miss Ruth Aburn, of the Central Infant School, Nelson. The exchange will take place this month.

Travel grants to New Zea land graduate students include one to Mr J. P. Blakeley of the University of Canterbury, who will undertake advanced study at the University of Illinois, and Mr A. J. Carr, of the University of Canterbury, who will take up a teaching assistantship at the University of California, Berkeley, California. Both will leave New Zealand this month.
