Indians Beat Whangarei
(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI. August 24.
With a brilliant exhibition of stickwork and trapping, the Indian Olympic hockey team took full advantage of a perfect playing surface to beat Whangarei 5-1 in the third game of their New Zealand tour today. India led 2-0 at half-time. There was no doubt that the Indians’ individual talents and skill, combined with hard passing and superb trapping gave them a considerable superiority.
The Indians showed a distinct liking for the hard, fast and smooth ground and their form was considerably improved.
