GOOD BEEF CARCASE
Second Place In U K. A carcase exhibited in the Canterbury chiller-type beef competition was placed second when entries from all parts of New Zealand were judged in England. It was entered by M. Husband, of Ashburton. Mr Husband, had entries placed second and sixth on the hooks at Belfast, and in the on-hoof competition he gained fourth placing. His placing in London earns him a prize of £3O. When the Canterbury district entry was judged again in London, one of Mr Husband’s entries was placed first. Second place went to the entry of R. D. Gould, of Amberley, which was fourth on the hooks at Belfast and first on the hoof. Mount Peel station, which was first and third on the hooks at Belfast, gained third place in London. The silver Challenge shield awarded by the Meat Board for the best district display was won by Southland, with Hawke’s Bay second and Central Hawke’s Bay third. The top individual carcase from J. W. T. Collins, of Mangamahu, which is in the Wanganui exhibit.
Help For C.O.R.S.O.—Pupils of Standard 4 from Lyttelton Main School manned four stalls in the port yesterday to raise funds for C.0.R.5.0.
