Lake Loss Slower
The rate of decline in the South Island’s storage lakes has dropped to half the level maintained last week. Total storage yeterday was 112,720,-
000 kilowatt hours, which was down by 1,410,000 units on Sunday’s figure of 114,130,000. Last week the storage was dropping at the rate of 3,000.000 units a day. The position has been helped by light rain in the mountains and warmer temperatures in Canterbury.
“Dominion’s” New Manager
<N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 24. . Mr J. A, Burnet, of Wanganui; has been appointed general manager of the Wellington Publishing Company, proprietors of the “Dominion." Mr Burnet is at present general manager of the “Wanganui Chronicle." He joined as accountant in 1947.
In Dock.— The coastal motor vessel Kopara is at present in the Lyttelton graving dock for a routine overhaul.
