Gay Filou Top Winner, Le Filou Leading Sire

Gay Filou, the winner of the Wellington Cup, was the top stakes winner for the season just concluded, according to final statistics for the season published in the “New Zealand Racing Calendar.” The leading sire was Le Filou, sire of Gay Filou and also of Senor, the second highest stake winner. A feature of the statistics of stake winners is the fact that one quarter of the top 24 winners were sired by New Zealand-bred stallions.
