Still In Square
“I personally think we will be here until the building is completed,” said the proprietor of the pie-cart in Cathedral square (Mr A. Boyd) last evening.
Today an advertisement appears in “The Press” saying that Bradshaw’s Coffee Stall is still situated in the square and is open for business six days a week. Mr Boyd said he had advertised this because many of his customers and friends had wanted to kno wif the pie-cart had moved.
“Frankly, I’ve been waiting to see just what would happen but it’s been three months since the City Council by-laws committee had its say,” said Mr Boyd. He said custom was just as good as ever. The pie-cart was not interfering with the contractors working on the construction of the Bank of New Zealand. “They seem quite happy. At the moment I am too, so let’s hope it stays this way,” he said.
In May the council’s by-laws committee agreed to the moving of the pie-cart to the south side of Cashel street, opposite Tattersall’s Hotel.
