Contributions to C.0.R.5.0. enabled New Zealanders to send £75,000 In gifts to help needy people in 16 countries last mdnth. The gifts—33 cash grants totalling £41.500 and £33,500 worth of goods—represented the biggest dispersal of aid handled by C.0.R.5.0. in any one month this year. The cash goods were for India, Hong Kong, South Korea. South Africa, Southern Rhodesia, Jordan, Gaza, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Tanganyika, Uganda, Fiji, Indonesia, and Greece.
. The £33,500 worth of goods sent included three tons of New ' Zealand milk powder, six cases of medical supplies. 10 cases of soft toys, and 36,445 articles of clothing. The clothing was for children add destitute families in Hong Kong, India, Algeria, South Korea, and the Philippines; the milk powder for clinics, hospitals, orphanages, and schools in Hong Kong; and the toys were for children in orphanages in Hong Kong and the Philippines. Of the £41,500 in cash gifts, £19,400 was for refugees in South Korea: £6600 for refugees in Jordan and Gaza; £5205 for hospitals, schools, and orphanages in India; and £2500 for refugee camps and a hospital ip Pakistan. Impoverished elderly Greek refugee families received £1750, and £lOOO went to Tanganyika to finance a programme for combating malnutrition among children by instructing young African mothers in domestic science and hygiene.
