TULLOCH’S SISTER

N.Z.-Bred Mare Destroyed

It has not been a good year for the New Zealand thoroughbred in the United States.

Rapido went wrong and was retired; Cadiz and Desert Chief were the last two to finish in the Hollywood Gold Cup last month; and now comes news of the death of Tulloch’s Sister, which, in fact, was the champion’s halfsister.

Tulloch's Sister was destroyed recently after she broke a leg at Mr George G. Jamieson’s Rancho del Charro in Pleasanton, California. She was in foal for the first time to Tulloch’s sire, Khorassan. Mr Jamieson paid 7000gns for Tulloch’s Sister (by Pride of Kildare) at the national yearling sales in 1961. She was sent to Sydney for her racing career and won races from T. J. Smith’s stable before she was retired and sent to the United States.
