ANTIGUA STREET BRIDGE

Committee Hears Petitioners

A deputation of 11 persons including some prominent citizens and some descendants of early Canterbury settlers met the works committee of the City Council yesterday to petition against plans to put a traffic bridge across the Avon river at Antigua street. The petitioners asked that the tranquil atmosphere of the area and the boatsheds should be preserved.

The works committee will report on the petition to the next meeting of the council.
