Maori Officer
For the first time in its history, the Federated Seamen’s Union had elected a Maori as one of its national councillors, said the general secretary, Mr L. A. Barber, today. The election, completed on Tuesday night, gave Mr Joseph Briggs two posts, one as a .Dunedin vice-presi-dent of the union, the other as one of three Dunedin representatives on the national council of the union.—(P.A.)
