GOOD FISHING

The Southern Ocean, an Akaroa fishing boat owned by Mr L. R. Todd, brought in what is believed to be a record catch of tarakihi recently. In 12 hours’ fishing off Akaroa Heads, the crew of the Southern Ocean caught 144 cases of tarakihi, equivalent to

about seven tons. The boats fishing on either side of the Southern Ocean on the same day, got 50 and 27 cases. Mr Todd’s father, Mr L. G. Todd, said yesterday that in 16 years’ fishing at Akaroa, it was the biggest catch of tarakihi he had seen.
