MATCH IN BALANCE

Aust. Needs 89 Runs

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright > SWANSEA, August 4 Australia. 180 for five at lunch, needed another 89 runs to beat Glamorgan on the final day today. Victory or defeat hinged on the opener, W. M. Lawry, who after 233 minutes at the wicket was still unbeaten with 61 at lunch. The Australians looked a beaten side when they lost the wickets of N. C. O’Neill. I. F. Redpath and J. Potter for only 17 runs. However, T. R. Veivers again came to the rescue, with 54 in 90 minutes, including seven fours and two sixes. Veivers saved Australia from a disastrous collapse in its first innings yesterday when he cracked six sixes in his 51. But Australia's total of 101 was the lowest of its tour. After Glamorgan had been dismissed for 172 in its second innings, the county side leading by 268 runs, Australia had made 75 for one at stumps. GLAMORGAN First Innings ..197 Second Innings A.
