RATES IN FULL

£2m More Revenue

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, August 4. Municipalities, counties and road districts would have received at least £2,427,821 in extra revenue last financial year, if rates had been paid in full on all property exempt from rating, according to a national survey made by the Department of Internal Affairs.

This figure related to Crown, local authority, public and private education property, hospitals, charitable institutions, churches and cemeteries.

The survey was carried out to facilitate the work of a committee on local authority finance.
