ROBBERY AT HOTEL

Young Man Charged

INVERCARGILL, July 22. A 22-year-old farmhand was remanded under section 37 of the Mental Health Act when he appeared before Mr W. M. Willis, S.M., today.

He was charged that on July 19, 1964, at Colac Bay. being armed with an offensive weapon, he robbed Patrick McClinchey.

The man, whose name was suppressed, was alleged to have held at gunpoint the proprietor of the Colac Bay Hotel, Mr P. McClinchey, last Sunday night and to have robbed him of between £2OO and £3OO in cash.

Ippearing for the man, Mr H. B. Scholefield, asked for a remand, because, be said, “some circumstances need to be examined.”

Detective-Sergeant T. R. Tyson, for the police, agreed to the remand until September 2.
