JUBILEE OF SCHOOL

Committee Formed

The Shirley Primary School will hold its jubilee celebrations from February 11 to 13, 1966, the jubilee committee, formed at a meeting of past pupils and teachers, has decided.

The school was opened on January 31, 1916, and more than 10,000 pupils have attended. The chairman of the committee (Mr D. S. Lee) was a second-year pupil, and the deputy-chairman (Mr F. von Sierakowski) answered the roll call, on the first day. Officers elected were: ehairman, Mr Lee; deputychairman, Mr von Sierakowski; secretary, Miss J. Pow; assistant secretary, Mrs L. P. Botherway; treasurer, Mrs N. Meadowcroft; liaison officer with school committee, Mr C. W. Harrison; chairman of entertainment for immediate past pupils, Mr R. L. T. Sandford; chairman of publicity, Mr J. Hyde; chairman of general entertainment, Mrs J. Evans: chairman of rolls and records, Mr H. Turner.
