The University captain, T. Minehan, on Saturday missed her first senior match since 1956. It was also only the second match since 1954 that Minehan has not played in. The team’s centre-half, S. Vivian was in the clear, running down the touch-line, with only the Linwood full-back, W. F. McCormick, to beat. McCormick would have had no difficulty in covering Vivian, but a kick to the centre could have been dangerous to Linwood. McCormick hesitated just enough to encourage Vivian into the belief that he could break past. So instead of kicking, he kept running; and a moment later McCormick had him over the side-line in a shattering tackle, and a dangerous thrust was met
