Carpets
Sir,—Since my first letter to you on the subject of carpets was posted, but before it was published, the retailer made a generous gesture in the form of goods to show his concern at the quality of the carpet we bought. The manufacturer has disclaimed all responsibility. Unfortunately, superficial examination of carpets cannot always disclose their likely wear rate, so the purchaser is, up to a point, gambling his money. However, information has been, received that the Consumer Service may be investigating carpet wear ill a scientific manner in the near future. Their conclusions will certainly be Of wide interest. —Yours, etc., CROSSBRED.
