Communist Meeting

(N.Z. Press Assn. —CopvrighO MOSCOW, July 19. The Soviet Union has told Communist China that it wants a meeting of the world’s Communist Parties to discuss doctrine “without delay.” The Russians called upon Peking leaders to agree in principle “in the Immediate future . . that a meeting must be convened and that it should not be put off for long.” The Russians’ latest demand for a world conference reproached the Chinese for their “scorn of the opinion of fraternal parties and refusal to lend an ear to them and take part in a joint search for ways of overcoming the differences.” “You even make no attempt to deny that your aim is to have your hands free in order to carry on fractional splitting activities,” the Soviet letter said. ~ The Chinese said on May 7: “It may take perhaps four or five years or even longer” for conditions for a new world meeting to ripen. The impatient tone of the new Soviet letter indicated that Mr Khrushchev is preparing to start preparations fo ra world conclave—with or without the Chinese.
