LASSOED TUNA

1121 b Fish In Shallows (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 19. Two men landed a 1121 b yellowfin tuna with a looped rope after sighting it about 50 yards from the shore at Onehunga on Friday. Mr B. Belcher, of Mangere, was. working at a concrete products factory when he and a customer, Mr R. F. Millar, saw the fish. They rowed out in a dinghy to where the fish was floundering in shallow water, lassoed it with a rope, and brought it in at about 2:30 p.m.

Mr Belcher’s workmates were amused at his catching the tuna—it weighed seven and a half pounds more than a tuna landed by His father, Mr J. W. Belcher, about three months ago at Russell.
