The Rev. J. J. Merton, B.Sc., the present vicar of Akaroa, has been appointed vicar of St Faith’s, New Brighton. Mr Merton gained his degree from the University of New Zealand and received his theological training at College House, Christchurch. He was ordained in 1952 and served as curate at Lower Riccarton and Ashburton. From 1956 to 1961 he was vicar of Lyttelton-West
Mr H. Spence, the United Nations Technical Assistance Board’s chief representative in the South Pacific area, arrived in Rarotonga on Saturday. During his one week visit, Mr Spence will meet the Resident Commissioner, members of . the Executive Committee and the Legislative Assembly at present in Rarotonga.—(PA.) Mr M. R.
