FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A complex frontal trough of low pressure is approaching New Zealand from the west. Forecast:
Canterbury.—Moderate variable winds, north or north-westerlies predominating at first; cloudy to overcast, with occasional rain; moderate temperatures.
Buller and Westland.—Moderate north-east winds at first; overcast, with periods of rain; winds changing to moderate to fresh south-westerlies this afternoon and becoming cool and showery.
Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate to fresh northerlies at first; becoming overcast, with widespread rain, heavy at times; moderate temperatures. Outlook.—All districts: unsettled. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
