NO LIBRARY EXTENSION
Hillmorton High
School
Provision had been made for a grant this year for the building of a block of six rooms, the Hillmorton High School board of governors was told by the Education Department. The department added, however, that it was not prepared to provide for library extensions, and could not say when assistance would be available.. Mr P. A. Murdoch said that the library had 3500 books and if all the books were in at once there would not be enough shelves. The present library was totally inadequate. The school’s parent-teacher association was responsible for their being so many books, and it was galling if the school could not accommodate all the books offered, said the chairman (the Rev. W. P. Eggleton). The board agreed that a letter should be sent to the department expressing the board’s concern that no provision had been made for an enlarged library, and that the matter should not be allowed to lapse.
