The 'Matangi owner-trainer Mr I. Robinson, whose horses have done well at Riccarton in the past, is planning. to take a team of four to the Grand National- meeting next month.
Quenby Hall, winner of the Waikato Steeplechase, is likely to attempt the Grand National, a race which Treasure Ring won for the stable in 1955.
Captain Rebel, Wonder and Flying 'Swift, which all have good form backgrounds, are also likely to travel south.
Captain Tsbel followed a win over hurdles at Te Awamutu and a second to Cretan over country at Hastings by winning the open steeplechase over two miles and a half at the Waikato Hunt point-to-point last Saturday. He win probably compete in the Jumpers’ Flat on the first day at Riccarton and hurdles oh the later days. Wonder, a winner on the flat at Te Awamutu last month, had his first race over country at the recent point-to-point and won nicely over two miles and a half. lie is likely to race in hack hurdle events in the south. Flying Swift, recent winner of the Opunake Steeplechase, will attempt hack steeplechases. If he progresses the right way he will probably be tried in the Lincoln Steeples on the final day.
