Bi-Centenary Of Marsden
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, July 7. The Rev. R. E. Marsden, of Pendeen vicarage, Penzance, Cornwall, was a guest at the bi-centenary celebrations of the birth of his great-grandfather, the Rev. Samuel Marsden. The gathering was at Pudsey, Yorkshire, during the week-end. Trees were planted by Mr Lloyd White, the DeputyHigh Commissioner for New Zealand, and Sir Allen Brown, the Deputy-High Commissioner for Australia. The Rev. R. E. Marsden has accepted an invitation from the New Zealand Government to deliver a Christmas Day sermon in Wellington this year. It will mark the 150th anniversary of Samuel Marsden’s first sermon in New Zealand.
