HEAD-ON COLLISION
Man Dies Of Injuries
(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, July 7.
One of three persons, admitted to the Timaru Hospital after a head-on collision between a station waggon and a truck at the corner of Beverley road and Evans street about 12.5 p.m. today, died as a result of injuries. He was:
Mr John Tuheke Ilopkinson. aged 54, a Ministry of Works draughtsman, of Temuka.
The condition of Mr Hopklnson’s daughter, Mrs Janice Parke, who suffered facial injuries, was described this evening as serious, and that of her infant son, Carl, who was still unconscious, as gravely ill. The driver of the truck was Mr Julian Hawes, a son of Dr. S. C. Hawes, medical superintendent at the Timaru Hospital.
An inquest Into the death of Mr Hopkinson was opened before the Timaru Coroner (Mr E. G. Bradley) and adjourned sine die after evidence of identification.
