Soccer Club Penalised

The New Brighton first divison soccer team has lost the point it gained from a 3-3 draw with University in the Hurley Shield competition on Saturday. This was decided at a meet ing of the Canterbury Football Association last evening. A member of the team, J. Bouwhuis, although receiving a clearance from Nomads, had not applied for, nor been granted, a mid-season transfer to New Brighton. The club was also fined 10s for' fielding an unregistered player.

Player Suspended A second grade player in the Celtic club, R. Leonard, was suspended for one playing Saturday. He was ordered off in a match against High School Old Boys on Saturday.

The referee (Mr M. Roberts) said that Leonard ■ was ordered off for “ungentlemanly conduct” in that he , deliberately held on- opponent by the arms.
