(N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright! LONDON, July 7.

While five Commonwealth leaders disagreed publicly last night over whether Southern Rhodesia would be a crucial issue at the Prime Ministers’ conference and Foreign Ministers of African Commonwealth countries met privately to map a common strategy on this and other issues.

Sir Milton Margai, Prime Minister of Sierra Leone, said:—“We need more deeds—more action —on Southern Rhodesia and South Africa in particular. Mere words won’t do.” In a 8.8. C. interview, Sir Alec Douglas-Home said Southern Rhodesia was “a question of time.” Dr. Eric Williams (Trinidad and Tobago): “Southern Rhodesia ... is no more crucial than British Guiana.” President Ayub Khan (Pakistan): “It should not be beyond human ingenuity to find a solution.”

Mr Holyoake (New Zealand): “I don’t think it’s crucial .... I hope the question of Southern Rhodesia will not prove to be a logjam.” Mr Jomo Kenyatta (Kenya) said the Southern Rhodesia problem would not be solved by anyone walking out, but only by discussion.
