Carpets

Sir,—Four years ago I covered the lounge and hall of my home with Al (New Zealand) Axminster carpet at a cost of over £lBO. Now this carpet is beginning to wear through to She backing. I can get no satisfaction from either the retailer or the manufacturer. In fact, some other retailers, when pressed, have said that two to four years would be their estimated life for this grade. Surely purchasers have a right to expect longer life than this from an expensive article. I am unwilling to believe that New Zealandmade carpets are poorer in quality than the imported types, • but 1) would be very interested to hear other opinions on this matter.—Yours, etC ” CROSSBRED. May 25, 1964. [No reply has been received from the manager of a New Zealand carpet manufacturing. firm who was invited to comment on this letter.]
