REPORT ON WATER
Amalgamation Of Legislation
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 2.
A review of all legislation relating to the administration of New Zealand’s water resources was being undertaken by an inter-departmental committee, the Minister of Works (Mr Allen) told Parliament tonight. Speaking in the Budget debate, he said it was already becoming clear that the provisions relating to water in the mining ’ public works legislation should become the nucleus of a water act. It was also evident that some form of national water administration could co-ordin-ate work being done and provide administration, where necessary, of matters that now seemed to be nobody’s “particular business." Mr Allen said the review was thought to be the most comprehensive of the subject ever undertaken in New Zealand.
