Revolutionary Typewriter
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.)
LONDON, June 30. A typewriter that uses magnetic tape to tap out fast repeat copies, to alter drafts, or even to mix two drafts in one composite document will shortly be available in Britain. Retyping at each of many draft stages would be ended. Only the amendments would have to be typed, since the text is recorded and could be played back or altered at will. The machine will produce the amended -pages automatically at 180 words a minute, more than twice the speed of an average typist.
Greeks.—The Australian Government has been asked by an M.P. to seek an assurance from Greece that Australian naturalised Greeks who return to Greece for a holiday will not be forced into military service.—Canberra, June 30.
