Christchurch Customs
Revenue collected by the Christchurch Customs Department in the three months to June 31 increased by £704,979 or 31.4 per cent to £2,951,847, compared with the same period' last year, according to the Collector of Customs (Mr W. G. Lowrle) yesterday. June’s figures also showed a bjg increase, rising by £539,829 to £1,166,564.
Of the total collected in the three months £1,964,115 (£1,692,421 last year) was from customs and excise, £735 (£1612) from tyres, ■ £948,996 (£523,837) from sales tax, £4197 (£4305) from light dues and £33,810 (£24,693) from miscellaneous.
