Dispersal Sale
Top price of 500 guineas was paid for a yearling colt by Johnny Globe from Schottische at a dispersal sale of horses owned by Mr G. McKendry at Methven yesterday. The colt, which is out of a sister to Highland Fling, was purchased by. Mr N. J. Ashby, of Christchurch, acting on behalf of the Sydney trainer, A. Phillis. Mr A. D. Smaill, of Heriot, paid 370 guineas for the six-year-old trotter, No Trumps, by Burns Night from Bonnet Blue, the dam also of Resistor and Gay Flame. Mr P. J. Heffernan, of Middlemarch, made two purchases. He secured the seven-year-old pacer, Grand McNish (Gay Piper—lda Walla) for 175 guineas, and a six-year-old mare by Burns Night from Jet Propelled for 150 guineas.
The only other lot to realise a three-figure sum was a four-year-old gelding by Gay Piper from Constellation, which was.sold to Mr D. Pinnell, of Waimate, for 105 guineas.
Three other lots realised less than 100 guineas. Four lots were passed in, including Paddy’s Night at 700 guineas.
The sale was conducted by Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, Ltd.
