FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation.—A ridge of high pressure lies over the North Island while a disturbed north-westerly airstream flows over the South Island. Forecast:
Canterbury.—Moderate north-east winds near the coast; north-westerlies, freshening at times, inland; rain in the Alps; variable skies elsewhere, with moderate afternoon temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy.
Buller and Westland. —Light variable winds; overcast, with occasional rain; moderate temperatures. Outlook: occasional rain.
Nelson.—Light to moderate northerlies; mainly cloudy; showers about the western ranges and a few isolated showers elsewhere; moderate temperatures. Outlook: similar conditions.
Marlborough.—North-westerlies, fresh to strong about the Sounds, but moderate elsewhere; some isolated showers about the Sounds, elsewhere partly cloudy; moderate afternoon temperatures. Outlook: similar conditions.
