A youth of 17 was admitted to •.ears* probation on charges f unlawfully getting into cars, lawfully taking a car and Restitution of £4 7s 3d d- also ordered, with £lO to be .nd towards the cost of proseOn a complaint that he was n indigent child, a boy of hree was committed to the care f the Superintendent of Child lelfare, as was a boy aged 19 jnnths. Also committed to the arc of the superintendent was 4ir) of 14, on a complaint hat she was not under proper ontrol. Two years’ supervision was rdered for a girl aged eight, _irl aged three, and a boy of even on complaints that they iere neglected and living in an nvironment detrimental to heir physical well-being. A girl iged 13 was placed under upervision for two years on a harge of theft. On two charges of theft a boy l2 was placed under upervision for 18 months. In dditton to 18 months’ superision, another boy aged 12 on , similar charge was ordered o pay restitution of £l7. Appearing on complaints that hev were not under proper ontrol, a girl aged 15 and a joy of seven were placed under hiid Welfare supervision for me year. This decision was also
given in cases in which three boys of 11, 14 and 15 were charged with unlawfully taking cycles, and three others, two aged 10 and one 11, were charged with burglary.
Two boys aged 13 and 15, who appeared on indecency charges, were placed under supervision for one year, as were two others, aged 14 and 15, charged with wilful damage and unlawful possession of firearms. Two boys aged 12 and 13, charged with theft, were dealt with similarly.
Three children were admonished and returned to the care of the Superintendent of Child Welfare—a girl aged 15 and a boy of 16, charged with theft, and a 16-year-old boy who used insulting language in a public place. Two 15-year-old boys, appearing on burglary charges, and two boys aged 13 and 14, charged with firearm offences, were admonished and discharged. On a wilful damage charge a boy of 14, was similarly dealt with, as was a 15-year-old boy who was charged with unlawfully getting into a car.
A 16-year-old boy was fined £2 for trespassing on railway property.
Kissing.—Cuddling and kissing in Malta in public is now a crime. The Police have also banned wearing of two-piece bathing costumes or bikinis on Malta’s beaches.—Valetta, June 25.
