Opponent Died From Injury
(N.Z.P A -Reuter—Copyright) BELGRADE, June 18. A Jugoslav amateur boxer. Mikola Kankaras, aged 31, went on trial yesterdayaccused of causing the death through negligence of an opponent in a feather-weight bout two years ago. The charge alleged that Kankaras, a locksmith, landed “unpermitted punches” on the neck of Ilija Pljackic, aged 25, who collapsed and died in hospital after the fight had been stopped in the first round. Kankaras told the court he had not delivered the pro* hibited punches, and had even eased up his attack when he saw Plpackic was groggy and heard him whisper: “Don't hit me any more.”
