ASIAN YOUTH ASSEMBLY

Four Going. From Christchurch

Twenty young people, including four from Christchurch and one from Oamaru, have been chosen from 80 applicants to go to the Philippines as delegates to the Asian Youth Assembly in December. The Youth Compiittee of the National Council of Churches is sponsoring the delegation. The assembly will be held at the Silliman University, Dumeguete City. More than 500 delegates from all Asian countries are expected to attend the assembly from December 28 to January 10. It is hoped that the delegates will be able to visit at least one other Asian country before their return.

From Christchurch, Miss Joan Cardno, Messrs Derek Holland, Michael Thawley, and Rex Hayworth will attend. Miss Margaret Poulter will go from Oamaru.
