PRIZES FOR ARTISTS
Dinner Set Designs (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 12. New Zealand designers and artists will compete in the next seven weeks for . prizes, worth more than £lOOO, to be awarded for dinner set designs suitable for export. The organisers are hoping the contest. will provide designs suitable for sale in Australia and North America.
The top cash prize in the sixth annual design awards will again be £4OO and an airline has given an extra prize—a free return jet trip to the United States—for the best export design with a New Zealand flavour.
The sponsors will provide the trip winner with £lOO spending money. The- trip will be made on one of the all-jet flights after the opening of the International Airport at Mangere next year. . Other awards this year will be: second, £150; third, £5O; fourth, £2O; and 10 consolation awards of £lO each. Entries will close in Auckland on July 31.
