Bear and Cindy are toy characters which recently made their debut on television in New Zealand. In Peter Cape's BEAR AND CINDY AND THE BLACKIWOG (Whitcombe and Tombs, 31 pp) they have a surprising encounter with an energetic Blackiwog.
Bill Campion is an orphan in New Zealand of the 1860’s He has a way with horses and makes some good friends as well as a bad enemy. With the aid of a friendly coachman, a Maori, a stationowner’s daughter and a white stallion, Pouaru (The Lonely One,) Bill finds happiness. Cecil and Celia Manson’s THE LONELY ONE (Epworth Press and Whitcombe and Tombs, 153 pp) is a satisfying story for 11-15 year olds which has already been produced by the N.Z.B.C.
