Moving Stock By Air To Be Easier
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 29. Air transport restrictions on the carriage of horses, dogs, cats and poultry, including day-old chicks, between Australia and New Zealand are to be eased from June 1.
The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys) said today under the new arrangements animals may be carried between the two countries on Tasman Empire Airways Limited aircraft operated exclusively on the New Zealand, Australia, Noumea, Fiji and American Samoa circuit. '.ircraft would remain approved to carry eligible animals provided they did not transport animals or animal products from airports outside Australia and New Zealand. Aircraft that lost their “clean Australasian” status would not be permitted to carry animals between the two countries until 90 days had elapsed. Mr Taiboys said the effect
