DRINKING BY PUPILS
School Heads Sceptical r.Y.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 29. Headmasters of three Wellington colleges were sceptical of Dr. T. B. Hall's reported statement in Christchurch yesterday that they were concerned over heavy drinking among 15 and 16-year-olds. The headmaster of Wellington College (Mr S. H. W. Hill) said the problem had: not concerned him a great deal. “The young men under my care don’t seem to drink anymore than any previous generation, although I can understand that in some schools it might be a problem,” he said. Mr N. A. Mackay, headmaster of Rongotai College, said he had never experienced any concern. He had no doubt that some of the boys, with the fulli knowledge of their parents, were allowed to drink at home, but it had never affect-, ed their schoolwork. The beadmaster of Hutt Valley High School (Mr F. S. Ramson) said: “I don't know Dr Hall’s source of information because it has not been discussed at any meeting of principals in Wellington,”
