AUSTRALIAN WARSHIPS
Four Arrive In Borneo (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CANBERRA, May 28. Four Australian ships have arrived in Borneo as part of Australia’s plan for increased aid for Malaysia. The Navy Department said today that the ships were the mine-sweepers Hawk and Gull, and the landing-ships Vernon Sturdee and Harry Chauvel. The mine-sweepers are to take up patrol duties off the coast of the Malaysian Borneo states. The two landing ships took earth-moving machinery and engineering equipment from Australia to build roads, bridges and airfields. In Brisbane today the Philippines accepted a second survey ship from Australia under the South-East Asia Treaty Organisation aid programme.
