Messrs H. W. Dowling, president of the North Island Motor Union, R. W. Lithgow, secretary of the N.1.M.U., C. H. Harvey, president of the Southland Automobile Association, and E. J. Barron, secretary qf the Southland A.A-, will represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth motoring conference to be held in Ottawa next month,— (P.A.)
Mr R. H. Lane, of Christchurch, has graduated master of arts with highest honours from the McCormick Presbyterian Seminary in Chicago. Mr Lane, a son of Mr and Mrs T. B. Lane, of Fendalton, is an old boy of St. Andrew’s College. He graduated bachelor of arts from the University of Canterbury, and at Knox College, Dunedin, won the James Begg travelling scholarship in theology. Mr Lane was licensed by the Presbyterian Church before leaving with his- wife for the United States, and will be ordained after his return to New Zealand in December. Mr A. Greenwood, a former member, and Mr E. R. Hounsell, liaison officer between the University of Canterbury and post-primary schools, were co-opted to the Christchurch Post-primary Schools’ Council last evening. They fill seats previously set aside for nominees of the Gov-ernor-General.
