Vice-Regal Autograph Of all the people the Gov-, ernor-General, Sir Bernard Fergusson, and Lady Fergusson met during their visit to Little River and Akaroa yesterday, Martin Brooks, a pupil at the Little River school, was marked for special attention. Martin had an arm in a plaster cast and, questioned by his Excellency, said that he had broken it while playing at school. “That was too bad,” said his Excellency, and autographed the cast. Light Rain Between 6 a.m. and midday yesterday, .Ilin of rain fell in Christchurch. Skies were partly cloudy to cloudy all day, and winds were light and variable. The temperature at Harewood at 6 a.m. was 51 deg., rising to 53 deg. by midday. The day’s maximum temperature was reached at 3 p.m., with 55 deg. both at Harewood and in the Botanic Gardens. By 4 p.m., the temperature at Harewood had fallen again to 54 deg. R.A.F. Team’s Visit A three-man team from the Royal Air Force Handling Squadron will hold discussions on technical and flight safety topics at the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Wigram today. The team, which is led by Wing Commander M. Adams, arrived last evening and will leave Wigram tomorrow. The team arrived in New Zealand on May 19 in a Canberra. It will leave in the Canberra | from Ohakea on May 29. 177 Enrolled Enrolments. with the Blinded Servicemen’s Trust Board stood at 177 at March 31, compared with 113 the year before, according to the annual report of the chairman (Mr A. E. Allen). The total includes 78 ex-service-men from the Second World War, 61 from the First World War, and 29 widows. Mr Allen said the Government had increased its administration grant by £5OO a year.—(P.A.) Awards To Airmen Three non-commissioned officers were honoured by the Chief of the Air Staff (Air Vice-Marshal I. G. Morrison) at the Hobsonville base yesterday when they were presented with commendations for outstanding zeal and devotion to duty. The recipients were Warrant Officer R H. Simpson, of Wellington, and Warrant Officer C. L. Anderson and Sergeant V. F. Armstrong, both of Auckland.—(P.A.)
