EIGHT NEW FELLOWS
Royal Society Awards (NZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 22. Eight men were elected as fellows of the Royal Society at the annual meeting of the society’s council. They are: Professor N. F. Barber, processor of theoretical physics lat Victoria University of WelI lington, who is a world j authority on the generation and propagation of ocean waves and swell. Dr. E. G. Bollard, a plant physiologist at the fruit research division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, who is an authority on the growth requirements of plants. Dr. J. N. Dodd, a reader in ■physics at Otago University, and formerly a member of the cyclotron team at Birmingham I University. Dr. A. T, Johns, director of the plant chemistry division of the D.5.1.R., Palmerston I North. Dr. F. J. Llewellyn, chairman of the University Grants Committee and the Broadcasting Corporation. Professor J. Packer, a Mel-bourne-born professor of chemistry and head of the department of chemistry at Canterbury University. Dr. M. C. Probine, head of the general physics division of the physics and engineering laboratory of the D.S.I.R.
Professor J. R. Robinson, professor of physiology at Otago University Medical School, and formerly a tutor and fellow at Emmanuel College.
